How to get involved – Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get involved in the Romsey Festival?
If you wish to participate in the Festival by putting on an event of your own, whether it is music, art or literature, dance or crafts, a performance or an exhibition, including children and families events, get in touch via info@romseyfestival.org and we’ll register your interest and make sure you’re invited to future participant meetings.
Who will organise venues?
As Festival participants, you are the event organisers and are responsible for identifying and booking a venue.
Does our event have to be in Romsey itself?
No, the Festival covers Romsey and villages in the surrounding area.
Who is responsible for all the costs, and who gets the income?
As Festival participants, you are the event organisers and are responsible for securing any funding that you require.
All the income from your event goes to you, less any ticket agency fees if you use online ticketing.
How much do we need to pay to Romsey Festival to be included?
Nothing! There are no fees for taking part in the Festival.
What about event ticketing?
If your event requires tickets, the Festival organisers can arrange for it to be included, with other Festival events, on the Festival TicketSource page so that tickets can be sold in advance. Tickets sold in this way will also be available through our high street outlet, the Oasis shop in Romsey. All ticket income, less agency fees, will be distributed back to the event organisers.
Do we have to make a charge for our event?
No, many of the Festival events and exhibitions are free of charge.
Free events can still be ticketed, if appropriate, and there is no charge for using our TicketSource page for free events.
Where will my event be advertised?
The Festival organisers promote the Festival as a whole, not individual events. Our promotion will include banners, flyers, newspaper releases, social media and the Festival website.
You are responsible for any flyers, posters and social media advertising that you may wish to produce to advertise your specific event. We can provide you with the Festival logo and header for you to use on your publicity.
In addition to this, your event will be included as a page on the Festival website and in events listings that will be made available around the town. On the website we can include your event description and images as well as links to websites of individual event organisers.
Is there an official photographer?
Yes! We will, wherever possible, arrange for a Festival photographer to attend your event to make a photographic record that you and the Festival can use for Festival publicity and to advertise future events. You’ll need to let us know if there are any restrictions to be aware of regarding photography of your participants.
How do I register my event?
When you have the details of your event such as dates and times, description and (where applicable) ticketing information, you can submit the information through our online form. The Festival team will review the information and use it to build your entry on the website. We will reach out to you for any clarification or further information that is required.
How do I know what other events are planned, and what gaps there are in the Festival schedule?
Please get in touch via info@romseyfestival.org and we can share the latest information with you.
