A lunchtime recital of music by students of Farnborough 6th Form College, accompanied by RAM alumna Jean Beers.
The Music Department of The Sixth Form College Farnborough is one of the largest and highest profile of its kind in the UK, boasting over 200 students on music courses and many more involved in musical extra-curricular activities. On average, around 30 public performances are organised each year, from huge operatic and choral projects to intimate chamber music recitals.
Recent past performances include concerts at Westminster Abbey and the Cathedrals of St Paul’s, Southwark, Guildford, Salisbury and Winchester. The Department has also performed at the Basilica San Marco in Venice and at the Thomaskirche and Nikolaikirche in Leipzig, in addition to further tours to Poland and France.
The Department regularly collaborates with some of the world’s finest musicians to provide unique performance and learning opportunities for students, including masterclasses, recitals and rehearsals with artists such as Jess Gillam, Julian Lloyd Webber, Joanna MacGregor, Angela Hewitt and Alina Ibragimova.
It also holds a unique scholarship programme with The Royal Academy of Music, providing advanced opportunities for tuition and performance.
